About ACC Commercial Cleaning
The people behind the clean

Jim Walker
Hi, I’m James and I live in Maidstone Kent with my wife and daughter.
In my early teens I discovered a passion and talent for Rugby, which has been a constant in my life ever since. I have played at a senior level, and have been the first team Captain at Maidstone Rugby Football Club. In addition to meeting my wife at the rugby club, I feel rugby has given me so much. The core skills it teaches you, discipline, respect, teamwork and determination have been vital to successes elsewhere in my life including my career.
Following a cancer diagnosis and subsequent kidney removal in 2009, members of the rugby club showed me the true meaning of friendship and community, and friends I have made at the club I very much consider family.
My cancer diagnosis gave me a fresh perspective on life. Having served in the Prison Service for 18 years, in which I had a very successful career, achieving the rank of Governor; in 2017 as a family, we made the decision for me to leave, and pursue a new career. The Prison Service had allowed me to develop a wide range of skills across project and programme management, commercial acumen, Team Management, alongside what by the more obvious skills of a Prison Manager, working to tight deadlines, attention to detail and effective people management to name but a few!
Following a role in the County Council working within the Procurement and Commercial function, I moved to a new role as a Community Protection Officer, again a public sector role that was fulfilling and definitely gave something back to my local Community.
However, it was my drive to succeed and a zest for learning that led to a decision to work alongside Jamie and Andy to develop ACC Commercial Cleaning. Initially feeling some trepidation at such a change in career path, I can honestly say I have never looked back. I very much enjoy the active nature of the role, and the variety in service delivery, planning and operational and strategic management.
As a Company, we are very much all committed to giving something back to our local community. I get great satisfaction from having the opportunity to support local charities, including the Heart of Kent Hospice where my Mother passed away during the Covid Lockdown in 2020. We have focused our recruitment strategy to date on recruiting locally, ensuring that while the business delivers services across a wider radius, we maintain a locally built and owned company.
